ScrapMyCar.net is committed to environmentally responsible practices in all aspects of vehicle disposal. We aim to reduce environmental impact while ensuring full legal compliance.

2. Legal Compliance

We comply with the following UK regulations:

• The End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulations 2003
• Environmental Protection Act 1990
• Hazardous Waste Regulations
• DVLA vehicle destruction & Certificate of Destruction requirements
• Environment Agency licensing and audit procedures

3. Our Environmental Objectives

• Recycle/recover at least 95% of each scrapped vehicle
• Prevent pollution by safely removing hazardous substances
• Use only certified and audited ATFs
• Educate customers about legal and environmental responsibilities

4. How We Minimise Environmental Impact

• De-pollution: Removal of fluids, batteries, and harmful materials
• Material Recovery: Recycling of metals, plastics, and glass
• Secure Data Handling: Safe removal of in-car digital data
• Digital Workflow: Reducing paper waste with online systems

Our staff and partners receive ongoing training in handling ELVs, environmental safety, and regulatory compliance.

This policy is reviewed annually, shared with stakeholders, and available on our website. We monitor our partners for compliance with environmental standards.

7. Customer Responsibility

We encourage customers to:

• Use only licensed operators for scrapping vehicles
• Request a Certificate of Destruction when applicable
• Remove all personal items before collection
